Success in the First Day of GSBO2: Focus on the Library Sector

Yesterday, the first day of GSBO2 was held successfully, an event aimed at the library sector that brought together top-level experts in the field. Professionals in the sector had the opportunity to hear firsthand experiences and strategies from prominent figures, who shared how they have faced challenging situations in their daily work, thus fostering critical thinking and debate among attendees.

The day featured presentations from recognized figures such as Carmen Echeverría from the Public University of Navarra Library; Jairo Hernán Díaz from the Quindío University in Colombia; and Dr. Jorge Eduardo Peña Zepeda from the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo. The interventions from these experts were met with enthusiasm and generated an atmosphere of learning and collaboration.

Echeverría spoke about the transformation that the Public University of Navarra Library has undergone, new spaces focused on content creation, and adaptable and flexible rooms. Díaz shared his experience in creating an academic coworking space at the University of Quindío in Colombia, which serves as an epicenter of innovation through open areas, workstations, and relaxation zones; while Dr. Peña delivered an engaging and interesting talk on the transformation of libraries and the need to share the knowledge within them, beyond positioning them as entities of knowledge to which few have access.

More than spaces for safeguarding information, libraries are evolving into dynamic epicenters of knowledge, where technology and humanism converge. They are envisioned as places that inspire the constant search for knowledge, foster collaboration, and connect communities. Will the libraries of the future be laboratories of innovation and collective creation? The conversation has just begun.

Today, GSBO2 continues its journey with a focus on the Archives sector. We will be sharing updates and highlights from this second day.
