Ikasiz Garatuz, EUN’s commitment to results-oriented internal knowledge and talent management

EUN Hub Beasain was a hub of learning this week, hosting an intensive internal training session attended by over 60 members across our organisation as part of the Ikasiz Garatuz programme.

Ikasiz Garatuz lies at the heart of EUN’s commitment to knowledge and talent management. This system was created with three key goals: empowering EUN employees with autonomy to boost motivation; ensuring that autonomy and motivation translate into superior results for the company; and safeguarding knowledge within the organisation.

The programme operates across two phases. First, a diagnostic phase identifies the learning needs of EUN’s entire team. Then, a deployment phase focuses on providing the required knowledge to fulfil those three core objectives.

All EUN staff participate in the initial learning needs diagnostic stage, ensuring their voice and vote contribute to pinpointing the gap between the knowledge team members need to properly execute their roles versus what they currently possess. We analyse this "know-how" deficit, inventorying these gaps to systematically resolve them within a two-to-three year timeframe.

Bridging this gap activates the deployment phase. Here, EUN employs the Diamond Knowledge Management methodology, a multidisciplinary approach that helps us to achieve strategic goals by equipping our team with the right knowledge. This 6-point diamond model kicks in after diagnosing training needs.

The first two points involve capturing or generating knowledge. Once a need emerges, there are two potential paths to take: we either obtain that knowledge externally from those who already possess it or cultivate it in-house, typically through R&D, innovative management practices, or simply learning by doing.

With the knowledge secured, the next point focuses on storing it. How? In the format (video, presentation, or document) that makes it easy to assimilate on EUN’s proprietary Ikasiz Garatuz digital platform.

Yet storing information is futile without sharing it, making the fourth point crucial. Beyond giving people access to this knowledge via Ikasiz Garatuz, we make sure that it actually gets where it needs to be through Registration, Attendance, and Satisfaction surveys accompanying each course or training release.

The fifth point applies that knowledge through a controlled pilot test (knowledge exploitation) or broader rollout. Finally, we gauge efficiency, our organisational objectives have been reached after hitting each point of the diamond.

Ikasiz Garatuz underpins EUN’s success, rooted in the principle that knowledge and talent management form the bedrock of any successful organisation.
