We incorporate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into EUN management
EUN has always been deeply committed to the environment, a commitment that extends beyond our direct activities.
We were among the first organisations in our sector to seek environmental management certifications after noticing that companies in other industries were doing the same. For example, we earned certification under ISO 14001 for environmental management and ISO 14006 for eco-design management.
We then became pioneers in adopting advanced and sustainable management models, making sustainability a strategic priority at EUN. We started releasing an annual sustainability report based on a diagnosis that involved asking stakeholders about the economic, social, and environmental issues they considered most important. This led to conducting a materiality study, aligning stakeholder concerns with our organisational priorities. As a result, these material aspects (those that matter both to our stakeholders and EUN) have become part of the foundation for our annual strategic planning. Our approach to sustainable management has led to several key developments, including:
- Increased investment in environmentally friendly machinery
- Actions to improve social impact, both in terms of training and safety
- The creation of quality jobs, with a firm commitment to equality
- We’ve also embedded our strategic goal of sustainability into our products and services, sharing this vision with our customers.

This year is especially significant for us, as EUN celebrates its 50th anniversary. To mark this milestone, we asked our employees, the EUNdarrak, to understand their feelings about the anniversary. To our pleasant surprise, there was widespread agreement across different generations, roles, and locations within EUN. Rather than simply celebrating 50 years, the consensus was that this milestone represents the strength, reliability, and confidence needed to face the future with enthusiasm and optimism. This realisation made it clear that we needed to take another major step forward in EUN’s environmental, social, and economic commitments, in line with the expectations of all our stakeholders.
We’ve engaged in reflection, benchmarking, and multiple training sessions earlier this year, and as a result have decided to incorporate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into EUN’s management framework. Beyond adopting the 17 goals from the 2030 Agenda, we’ve added an eighteenth goal: promoting linguistic and cultural diversity in our management.
We will keep you updated on the next steps.
